Satta Matka, as a form of gambling, traces its roots back to the 1960s when it was first introduced in India. Originally, the game involved betting on the opening and closing rates of cotton transmitted to the Bombay Cotton Exchange from the New York Cotton Exchange. Over time, as the system evolved, numbers were drawn randomly from a matka (earthen pot), giving rise to the term “Satta Matka.”
